As a first estimate of total cost for exterior painting, take the square footage of your house and multiply it by some number, say 1.2 -- 1.8. This will give you an estimate of your cost in dollars. The higher the overhead cost and labor cost, the larger will be the multiplier.

For example, a 2000 sq ft house would cost from $2400 total to $3600, the higher bid being due to labor and overhead cost -- up to 80% higher.
